 BOD NEWS SPRING 2 2019

CAKE BAKE

Thank you to everyone who baked and bought cakes last week. The children really enjoyed their cooking activities and I am sure they enjoyed eating the cakes too! A fabulous £210 was raised. All the money will be sent to SITraN an organisation based in Sheffield Hospital which conducts much needed research into Motor Neurone Disease as well as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. Well done to everyone.

CONTACTING PRE-SCHOOL
Please could we ask everyone to ensure that they have the Pre-school telephone number programmed into their mobile phones so that you can contact us in an emergency or if you have a problem collecting your child on time. Please let Cathy know if any of your contact details change so that we can update our records.

APPLICATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER
Application forms relating to places for September 2019 will be coming out to parents this half term. As you know we give existing children and siblings priority when issuing places for September. After Easter we will start offering places to external applicants.

GOVERNMENT SUPPORT WITH CHILDCARE COSTS

Childcare Choices is a government website which brings together all the childcare offers in one place. There are two new schemes for working parents – Tax-Free Childcare and 30 hours free childcare. To find out more about the new and existing offers please go to the Childcare Choices website www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.

30 hours of free childcare for three and four year olds is now available to working parents in England. This doubles the 15 hours available to all three and four year olds and could save working families up to £5,000 a year. Parents can check their eligibility using the online childcare calculator www.gov.uk/childcare-calculator and, if eligible, submit an online application ahead of September. Once signed up, parents will receive an eligibility code which needs to be brought into Pre-school. If eligible, parents will be able to book their 30 hours place.

MUMS’ WEEK
Following on from Mothers’ Day we will be holding our annual Mums’ week during week commencing 1st April. All mums and female carers are invited to come and spend some time having fun with their child at Pre-school. You can come in for a part or whole session or even join us for lunch. If you haven’t already signed up please add you name to the timetable which is up in the art area.

LABELLING:
Can we please, please, please remind all our parents and carers, especially now with the colder weather to name all hats, coats, scarves and gloves that come to Pre-school. All the staff are pretty good at remembering who’s coat is who’s but it is quite difficult with 30 pairs of mittens!!! It’s is also difficult for grandparents who pick up children if children’s possessions are not named.

LUNCH BOXES
Please make sure your child’s lunch box and drinks bottle are clearly named. Please do not include any products that may contain nuts. We have signed up to the NHS Change4Life Startwell Helathy Eating and Being Active Programme so we ask that you do not put any sweets or fizzy/energy drinks into their lunch box.
As we have children with special dietary requirements we request that no cakes, sweets or other edible treats be sent in to celebrate a child’s birthday.

EASTER BONNET PARADE
On Friday 12th April, the last day of term, we will be having an Easter Bonnet Parade. The children are invited to make an Easter Bonnet at home and wear it for the parade in the afternoon. There will also be an Easter egg hunt.

If your child doesn’t normally attend on a Friday afternoon, they can be brought along at 2.00pm to join in the parade. Parents of children who normally attend on a Friday afternoon are invited to come back early that day, at 2.00pm, to watch the parade and enjoy a tea or coffee and a Hot Cross bun.

TRUSTEES
Holy Trinity Pre-School is a registered charity and is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the operation of Pre-school and acts as the Trustee of the charity. The Board meets every half term to support the work of the staff and to organise fundraising and social events. We are a bit short of members and would really appreciate your support. If you are interested in helping or if you would like more information please speak to Cathy.

FUNDRAISING MATCHING:
As you know we are a non-profit making charity which relies on the support of our parents. If you work for a bank or finance company, they may match our fundraising. Please let us know if you can help!

Can you help? Do you have a skill set or the access to resources that might benefit our Pre-school? We are always looking for paper that the children can use for drawing. Please speak to Cathy or Lesley if you think you can help

TAPESTRY:
Don’t forget to log on to your child’s learning journal to see all the exciting things they do whilst at Pre-school. You can add your own photographs and also comment on the posting that your child’s keyperson has made. If you experience any problems logging on to Tapestry please speak to Cathy,
