BOD NEWS AUTUMN 1 2018
WELCOME BACK EVERYONE
A big welcome back to all our existing families and an even bigger welcome to our new ones. We hope you all had a wonderful summer holiday. We can’t quite believe we are already into our third full week of term!
Claire Jephcott has now gone on maternity leave and we are sure you will all join us in wishing her well. We would like to welcome a new member of staff. Krista Bailey, an experienced qualified teacher, has now joined the team on a permanent basis.
GOVERNMENT SUPPORT WITH CHILDCARE COSTS
Getting financial help with your childcare costs is easier than you might think. Childcare Choices brings together all the government childcare offers in one place for the first time, including two new schemes for working parents: Tax-Free Childcare and 30 hours free childcare. Use the Childcare Calculator on Childcare Choices to see what offers are available to support you and your family. To find out more about the new and existing offers, and how they can help you, go to the Childcare Choices website.
FAMILY FUN DAY
A big THANK YOU to all of you who came along to our Family Fun day. All the children had a super time. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the people who helped either by running a stall or clearing away at the end. We raised very nearly £550.
TRIP TO CONKERS
Another big THANK YOU to everyone who helped on our trip to Conkers during the final week of last term. The children all had a fantastic day and the weather was very kind to us.
Don’t forget that we offer a breakfast club for families that need wrap-around care in the mornings. The club starts at 08:30 and runs until 09:15. Breakfast, consisting of toast or cereal, is available and the cost is just £5.00 per session. Sessions can be booked on a regular or a one off basis. Please speak to Cathy to book a place.
Don’t forget to look at your child’s individual learning journal to see all the exciting things that they do whilst at Pre-school. You can add your own photographs and comment on the postings that your child’s key person has made. If you experience any problems logging on to your child’s Learning Journal please speak to Cathy.
WEBSITE & FACEBOOK
A quick reminder to encourage parents to look at the Pre-school website as it provides lots of useful information. We post most weeks and it’s a great way of keeping up to date with what is happening at Pre-school. We are also on Facebook. Could we ask you to please like and share our Facebook page with your friends.
Please make sure our child’s lunch box is clearly named and does not include any products that may contain nuts. We have signed up to the NHS Change4Life Startwell Healthy Eating and Being Active Programme so we ask that you do not put any sweets or fizzy/energy drinks into their lunch box. We also request that no cakes, sweets or other edible treats are sent in by parents to celebrate their child’s birthday.
We are holding a quiz night for parents, carers, families and friends on Friday 16th November at Pre-School. Bar opens 7.00pm, Quiz starts 7.30 pm prompt. Price £2.50 per head, Teams of 4 can be decided in advance or made up on the night. We are also offering a Fish and Chip supper which must be ordered in advance. Please support this Trustee organized event. Order forms will be coming out shortly.
We will be holding an information evening in November (date to be confirmed) to introduce the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) and explain how we help children learn at Holy Trinity. We will talk about the importance of play and how children learn through play. We will discuss the importance of speaking and listening to the development of your child and how we encourage a partnership between pre-school and home so we can give each child the best possible start to their lifelong journey of learning. A presentation will be given by a Teacher from a local primary school on the importance of getting children ready for their transition into school.
Holy Trinity Pre-School is a registered charity and is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the operation of Pre-school and acts as the Trustee of the charity. The Board meets every half term to support the work of the staff and to organise fundraising and social events. We are a bit short of members and would really appreciate your support. If you are interested in helping or if you would like more information please speak to Cathy.
Can you help? As you know we are a non-profit making charity which relies on the support of our parents and volunteer trustees. Do you have a skill set or the access to resources that might benefit our Pre-school? Please speak to Cathy or Lesley if you think you can help
Fundraising is a very important part of the Board of Trustee’s role at Pre-School. If you work for a bank or finance company, they may match our fundraising. Please let us know if you can help!
